As with its predecessors, you chose to be one of 18 nations as you begin your quest for domination and battle it out with some of the most popular leaders in history. Each nation has their own special characteristics that make them either peaceful, or conquerors. In the beginning, your arsenal will consist of primitive units like warriors and archers. Over time, you will improve upon these units and will eventually be able to produce modern combat units, such as bombers and tanks.
You will not always have to fight to achieve victory. You can also use religious and cultural alliances, technological dominance or diplomatic skills. This latest instalment gives you better control over government and religious aspects of your civilization and the AI moves faster during mid game and late game turns. Civilization 4 offers great graphics and audio, plenty of videos and hours of fun. Fans of the series will not be disappointed with this instalment.
